All hail Viola Davis - Woman King
This movie pierces your soul, speaks volumes, and takes you on an emotional rollercoaster. Woman king is that movie for female empowerment. However, I want to embrace this with a different perspective other than fighting for independence and the sheer brilliance of direction from Gina Prince- Bythewood. I will touch on Viola Davis's acting prowess. One, untouchable. Two, next-level stratosphere. "I was 56 when I trained to be this warrior: five hours a day, hour and half of weight training, three and half hours of martial arts, 10.0 on the treadmill," Davis stated. Not to mention, she performed all of the Woman King stunts herself. Viola Davis constantly raises the bar. She is arguably one of the best actors of our time. She gracefully gives viewers a stellar performance every time she hits the big screen. Fifty-six years old and starring in an action-packed film, there is nothing this woman queen cannot do. Woman King is a remarkable film that details the history of the Agoji warriors of Dahomey, Africa. It is about time Africa is portrayed in a different way other than the poverty-stricken continent the media chooses to show. Dahomey is a country in Africa that stood for independence and now gets its story told. If you have not seen Woman King yet, take some time to see it. You will not regret it. What is your favorite Viola Davis film?
